Contour LinesContour lines appear on topographic maps to help map readers understand the elevation of a particular landform.
1. Watch the Chapter 1 'Skill Builder: Recognising land features'. 2. Read through the start of the chapter and look at 'Searchlight INT-3144'. 3. Complete the activity handout 'contours' and then draw contour lines for Mt Fuji, Balls Pyramid and the Chocolate Hills. |
Topographic MapsTopographic maps are detailed, accurate graphic representations of features that appear on the Earth's surface.
1. Complete the activity handout ‘Topographic Map Reading Practice Worksheet’ handout. Work in pairs to answer the questions. 2. Mapping Skills Test – Complete the ‘Little Town’ questions 2 and 3. |
